Create a fresh and dynamic, user-friendly online experience that directly supports the Ohio State University HR department’s goals of strengthening partnerships with faculty, staff, and students. This involved providing intuitive online tools, comprehensive resources, and up-to-date current events information.
Approach
Collaborative Framework & User-Centric Architecture
approach was deeply collaborative and user-driven, focusing on building an entirely new architectural framework. We began with multiple unique one-on-one focus group interviews with key stakeholders (faculty, staff, students) to reveal individual expectations and inform the digital experience structure. This extensive research directly influenced the development of dozens of wireframes and detailed sitemaps, meticulously planning the information architecture.
We then moved into high-fidelity reviews, fostering an intimate and iterative process with the OSU HR team to ensure design alignment with their goals. This close partnership was fundamental to refining the user experience and ensuring a successful, early go-live.

Challenge
Navigating Complex Information & Diverse Audiences
The primary challenge was architecting an entirely new framework for vast amounts of HR information and resources to ensure it was easily discoverable and navigable for diverse user groups (faculty, staff, students). Balancing the need for a fresh and dynamic user-friendly experience with the inherent complexity and regulatory requirements of HR content was a significant hurdle.
Ensuring the platform effectively strengthened partnerships required more than just information delivery; it demanded tools and features that fostered engagement. Finally, the success of the project hinged on maintaining a successful partnership with a large institutional client like OSU HR, managing expectations, and delivering a polished experience for a high-profile launch event.

Results
Enhanced Partnerships & Streamlined AccessThe project successfully delivered a fresh and dynamic user-friendly online experience that significantly strengthened partnerships between the OSU HR department and its faculty, staff, and students. The new architectural framework of information and resources proved highly effective, making online tools and current events easily accessible.
The intimate collaborative process with the OSU HR team was a key factor in the project’s success, culminating in an early go-live and a highly successful demo presentation to over 100 key HR members at launch. This initiative not only streamlined access to vital HR information but also fostered a more engaged and empowered university community.
